CAPSTONE – ORGANISATIONAL EXCELLENCE CHALLENGE 2.0

Capacities for Social Transformation and Empowerment – CAPSTONE is an institutional development programme for medium-sized Indian non-profits. Building on 40 years of experience in delivering impactful capacity development support to non-profits, Participatory Research in Asia – PRIA has conceptualised CAPSTONE as a flexible, contextualised, future-oriented, cohort-based learning programme.

CAPSTONE will enable the non-profits to:

• assess their organisational capacities
• think, plan and lead strategically to be adaptive to changing context
• develop an organisational development plan where they have prioritised gender mainstreaming/ integration institutionally
• develop and implement essential organisational policies and systems
• develop community-engaged programme planning, and M&E policy, design and plans
• develop digital preparedness with clear policies and practices on cyber-security and integrate technology in operations
• undertake participatory impact assessments of their projects
• Improve strategic communications with different stakeholders
• develop an organisational and financial resilience plan by diversifying local funding sources

Each selected non-profit will be offered the following capacity development support over a year:

• Facilitated organisational capacity assessment
• Training (face to face and online)
• Coaching and mentoring for leadership and senior team members (online and onsite)
• Handholding support in planning and implementation of the organisational capacity development plan (online and onsite)

General criteria for selecting a non-profit will include:

• has been functioning as a formal organisation for approximately 5-15 years
• has demonstrated integrity and basic legal compliances
• has been working with the marginalised community
• has some ongoing projects in the remote districts and towns
• has potential for scale-up
• the annual turnover is between more than 25 lakhs to less than one crore

Preference will be given to organisations working on issues of:

• Gender justice
• Youth participation
• Social inclusion
• informal workers (particularly migrant workers)
• Local governance

CAPSTONE is supported by the Ford Foundation. While PRIA will invest resources in all training and capacity development programmes, the selected non-profits are expected to look after an estimated four to five roundtrips (travel and local conveyances) between the organisation’s home location and New Delhi.

PRIA invites nominations from Indian non-profit civil society organisations for the Second Cohort starting from August 2022. Each Cohort will include 25-30 non-profits. Should you be interested and fulfil the general criteria please submit your application by 14 January 2022. The final selection will be strictly based on the information that you provide in the Application Form.
