PRIA DVV-International Workshop

PRIA organised an international workshop titled "Learning-Planning Workshop Promoting Skills for Youth & Strengthening Partner Organisations from April 20-24, 2015. This workshop was organised in collaboration with DVV-International at PRIA’s head office in New Delhi.

28 participants from Asia and Middle East regions, representing Afghanistan, Germany, India, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Nepal, Philippines, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam, attended this workshop.

The main objectives of this workshop were:

• To develop pathways for strengthening field programmes to strengthen ‘youth skills for life and work’
• To specifically identify project elements that focus on young girls and also address realities of violence against them in public sphere
• To understand the framework and methodology of ‘Organisational Development (OD)’ as relevant to field-based practitioner organisations
• To develop a plan for concrete project for OD for selected partner organisations or at least for a region

This workshop offered participants an international platform for exchanging experiences on promotion of skill building for youth.  It also provided opportunities to participants to develop common projects for the region as well as for individual organisations/nations on the issue of promotion of skills for youth and strengthening partner organisations.

Participants felt that the learning environment provided by this workshop was extremely useful. Many participants shared that they were surprised to learn that all the participating countries faced similar challenges when it came to working on the issue of skill/capacity building for youth and other stakeholders in the community. They felt that regional collaborations, post workshop, would enable strengthening of partnerships among the participating nations/organisations.
