Shaping our tomorrows, today
Welcome to the PRIA website. Browsing the pages of our website will give you the chance to understand how PRIA works to change our world through building knowledge, raising voice and making democracy work for all.
On 6 February 2022, PRIA completed 40 years of impactful work. Between August and December 2021 we organised several PRIA@40 conversations between multiple stakeholders drawn from civil society, government, business, media and academia to help us forge a path forward for the next decade of our work.
Listening to our partners, associates, supporters, experts, investors, colleagues, we believe the journey towards PRIA@50, will mean:
- anchoring knowledge generation (research) in the participatory research perspective; integration and systematisation of participatory research methodology in activities, programmes, networks, and impact measurements at local, national, regional and global levels.
- enabling micro-macro-micro linkages in ways that create strong support and networks for amplifying knowledge from below in decision-making processes of various actors, in particular philanthropies and higher education institutions, nationally and globally.
- leveraging PRIA’s goodwill and thought leadership in convening multiple stakeholder processes and dialogues for co-developing innovative solutions.
- nurturing relationships with and ensuring the knowledge and contributions of grassroots civil society are valued.
- Bending the arc of justice towards gender equality needs much greater efforts now than before.
- Capacity development embedded in the perspectives of lifelong learning remains at the centre. Its forms need to be blended with the increasing adoption of online and digital modes of learning.
- Resourcing for impact on scale needs partnerships within a framework of system thinking and using social-technology approach. Scale is not through size of funding but diversity of relationships between multiple stakeholders and sharing of practical knowledge through innovative uses of technology platforms.
- Enabling global coalitions of civil society actors based on the principles of south-north-south cooperation is even more urgent in this era.
Browse our website to learn how PRIA is forging new ways of working together – by unlearning some of the old ways, and investigating local realities for sustainable change supported by Participatory Research methodology that organically integrates head, heart and hands – in learning, being and acting.
We hope you will stay connected and join us in this journey.
Best wishes
