The Development of a Comprehensive Participatory Learning Report on Health and Nutrition Interventions is a collaborative initiative between Child in Need Institute (CINI) and Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA). The project aims to document the processes, outcomes, and lessons emerging from CINI’s ongoing health and nutrition programmes across Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal.
CINI’s interventions focus on improving the health and well-being of women, children, and adolescents through community-based approaches. These include strengthening awareness on maternal and child health, nutrition, hygiene, and adolescent health, while also improving access to public health services. A key feature of the programme is its engagement with community institutions such as Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and adolescent groups, along with frontline workers including ASHAs, ANMs, Anganwadi Workers, and Community Health Officers (CHOs).
The programme also works closely with local governance and health system actors such as Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members and Block Medical Officers (BMOs), recognising their critical role in planning, coordination, and strengthening service delivery at the local level.
The study adopts a participatory research approach, recognising community members as key knowledge holders. It seeks to capture lived experiences, community perspectives, and institutional dynamics to understand better how programme interventions influence awareness, behaviour, and access to services. The findings will contribute to strengthening community-based platforms and improving convergence between communities, local governance institutions, and public health systems.
