India’s quest for sustainable development and democratic governance is challenged by growing inequalities, changing climate, and mounting exclusion. The non-profit sector is confronted with multi-faceted challenges including access to flexible resources and spaces. Effective contributions of the non-profits in promoting empowerment and participation of the marginalised communities depend on the organisations’ ability to become more agile, adaptive, and strategic. Despite commendable entrepreneurship exhibited by many outstanding non-profit leaders, the support and facilitation to develop stronger institutions cannot be overstated. However, an enabling support ecosystem which is accessible to a sizeable number of small and medium-sized non-profits is largely missing in India. This initiative will address this gap by training a pool of professionals who are capable of providing OD support to grassroots non-profits. OD is a process of planned organisational change, aimed to bring overall organisational effectiveness based on system-wide interventions through a learning process anchored in a set of preferred values. OD Facilitators, trained in facilitating organisational assessment and designing interventions, provide professional assistance to the organisations to achieve maximum impact. This course will develop a pool of OD facilitators with such capacities.

This is a blended course with online and in-person components along with a practicum to help you practice what you learn online and in-person workshops. You need to invest approximately 50 days in a span of five months. For the online component, you are expected to spend approximately four hours a day over 32 days in three phases. This will involve reading curated study materials in addition to participating in online classes/sessions and online discussion forums with your co-learners and facilitators. There will be two in-person residential workshops to be held in New Delhi, each workshop with a five-day duration to help you develop practical OD facilitation skills. A well-designed 8-day practicum in three phases is an integral part of the course where you will be working with a non-profit to facilitate their OD process under a senior mentor. In the first phase, you will develop familiarity with the organisation and its leadership. In the second phase, you will facilitate an organisational assessment with the chosen non-profit organisation and help them develop a draft intervention and action plan for OD support. In the third phase, you will help the organisation to finalise the OD plan. After each phase of the practicum, you will have to submit a report.
