Knowledge Partnership for the Future of Cities

The Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI) is organising a two-day conference on 27 and 28 July 2017 on the future of cities. Through the conference, ITPI  seeks to create an enabling environment for deliberations and discussions about the development of better future cities in the developing world.

PRIA has been chosen as a knowledge partner for the conference. As a civil society organisation committed to building knowledge to raise awareness, this is an opportunity to assist in documenting the challenges and opportunities in the role cities can play in development. In particular, PRIA's on-the-ground experience working with communities in informal settlements in cities and of promoting multi-stakeholder participation in urban planning will be useful in making sense of the theoretical presentations at the conference. PRIA's knowledge partnership will help in bringing valuable field insights and community voices in the formulation of policy advocacy for the governance of cities, as envisaged in the conference.
