The International Research Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (IRCI), established in Japan in 2011 as a UNESCO Category 2 Centre, is part of the National Institutes for Cultural Heritage, Japan. IRCI has been actively collaborating with various research institutions both within the region and globally, conducting case studies on pressing international issues such as disaster risk management, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the impact of COVID-19.

This year, IRCI launched a programme specifically designed for early career researchers in the Asia-Pacific region. The programme aimed to support participants in writing and presenting papers, publishing professional research, and gaining broader recognition for their work.

As part of this initiative, a half-day online seminar-workshop was held at the end of October. One of the sessions focused on community involvement in ICH (Intangible Cultural Heritage) research, featuring Dr. Rajesh Tandon as a speaker. Dr. Tandon delivered a talk on "Why Respectful Community Partnerships Matter."
