The International Development Research Centre (IDRC), in collaboration with PRIA, is organising a roundtable discussion titled Promoting Indo-Canadian Research Partnerships: Joint Experience in Participatory and Indigenous Research” on 15 October 2026, at PRIA in New Delhi.
The roundtable will bring together senior representatives from leading Indian research and higher education institutions, along with visiting IDRC leadership, including Ms. Erin Tansey, Director, Sustainable Inclusive Economies, to explore opportunities for strengthening research collaboration between India and Canada in the social sciences and interdisciplinary research.
Building on the longstanding history of Indo-Canadian cooperation in research, policy dialogue, and academic exchange, the discussion will focus on participatory and community-engaged research, Indigenous, tribal, and local knowledge systems, particularly in the context of climate change and just transitions. It will also explore the importance of ethical and inclusive research practices and evidence-informed policymaking.
The roundtable aims to exchange perspectives on emerging research priorities, identify areas of mutual interest, and explore mechanisms to foster sustainable, meaningful research partnerships between India and Canada.
