The 10th Edition of the Living Knowledge Conference (LKC) was held at the Universitat de Girona, Spain, from 26th to 28th June 2024. As a dynamic gathering of the "Living Knowledge" network, the conference convened Science Shops and related organisations committed to advancing public engagement and enhancing the involvement of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Research and Innovation (R&I).

The conference aimed to strengthen collaboration between civil society and academic institutions by promoting participatory research projects, facilitating staff exchanges, and shaping international research and innovation policy agendas.

Since 2006, the UNESCO Chair has played a key role as a strategic partner of the Living Knowledge Network (LKN), advocating for global knowledge exchange in community-based participatory research (CBPR) and engaged scholarship.

Under the leadership of Drs. Rajesh Tandon and Budd Hall this long-standing collaboration significantly contributed to the formation of the Global Alliance for Community-Engaged Research (GACER), which later evolved into the current UNESCO Chair.
