Lecture - Ecology and Economy in the City Making of Kolkata

Dr. Rajesh Tandon chaired the lecture titled “Ecology and Economy in the City Making of Kolkata,” delivered by Professor Ranabir Samaddar, which was accommodated at short notice. The lecture reflected on ecological concerns in the context of Kolkata, engaging with themes of climate change, urban adaptation, and resilience, while also addressing issues of rehabilitation and labour within these changing dynamics. It highlighted broader regional concerns related to climate transitions, inclusion, and social justice.

The session was held on Thursday, 19 March, in an online format. It was organised by the Centre on Gender and Forced Displacement, Faculty of Public Policy and Sustainability, and the Faculty of Climate Change and Sustainability at the Asian Institute of Technology, in collaboration with the Calcutta Research Group, under the CLARE ASEAN framework.
