The UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education organised a DECODE webinar titled “Connecting Indigenous-led research through climate, water and health issues” on Thursday, March 27th, 2025.
This webinar was part of the DECODE project, which seeks evidence of policy or practice impact in the context of epistemological diversity and decolonised co-construction of locally contextualised and actionable knowledge. With analysis of six case studies internationally, the implications for undertaking such research and making impacts on climate resilience will be shared.
Community leaders and researchers shared insights from the case study titled ‘Connecting Indigenous-led research through climate, water and health issues’. This discussion highlighted how community knowledge keepers and external researchers can collaborate to address the climate crisis through locally rooted, decolonising, and transformative approaches.
The DECODE project is funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and coordinated by the UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education. It builds on the Knowledge Democracy studies originated by Co-Chairs Dr. Rajesh Tandon (PRIA, India) and Prof. Budd Hall (Centre for Global Studies, University of Victoria, Canada).
