Dr. Rajesh Tandon, UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research, PRIA, will participate in the BRICS Civil Forum 2026, to be held on 17–18 August 2026 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, has entrusted the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), New Delhi, with the responsibility of serving as the nodal institution for organising the BRICS Civil Forum 2026 and leading the Civil BRICS Council.

Themed “Localising Development for Resilience, Innovation and Sustainability,” the BRICS Civil Forum 2026 is aligned with the broader BRICS Chairship 2026 theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” The Forum adopts a people-centric and “Humanity First” approach, emphasising the importance of grounding development solutions in local realities, community participation, and the knowledge and agency of people.

Dr. Tandon has been invited to address Plenary Session II: “Dialogue on People-Centric Development and Entrepreneurship”, which will bring together senior policymakers, academics, and civil society leaders to deliberate on approaches to people-centred development and entrepreneurship.
