11th Living Knowledge Conference: Research and Solidarity

The 11th Living Knowledge Conference, Research and Solidarity 2026, was hosted by the University of Gdańsk, Poland, from 8–10 July 2026, with support from the Centre for Sustainable Development and the Finance and Strategic Project Office. The conference brought together over 200 researchers, practitioners, community leaders, and representatives from higher education institutions across 19 countries to strengthen solidarity through community-engaged research and knowledge co-creation.

Dr. Anshuman Karol represented the UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education, presenting the work of the Knowledge for Change (K4C) Initiative alongside colleagues from K4C hubs across the world. K4C is a global capacity-building network spanning 38 higher education institutions in 22 countries, advancing teaching, learning, and research through community-based participatory research.

Dr. Karol also co-presented insights from the DECODE Project, highlighting its focus on the co-construction, decolonisation, and transformation of research by recognising and valuing Indigenous and local knowledge systems through meaningful community participation.

The conference provided a valuable platform for exchanging ideas, fostering new collaborations, and reaffirming a shared commitment to advancing inclusive, participatory, and socially relevant knowledge creation.
