To establish models of Area Sabhas and Ward Sabhas in selected JNNURM cities as suggested in Model Community Participation Law

Geographical Spread

Jaipur in Rajasthan, Raipur in Chhattisgarh, Ranchi in Jharkhand, Patna in Bihar, Shimla in Himachal Pradesh and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

  • Orientation of citizens and citizen leadership on community participation laws
  • Mobilizing citizens at the (sub) ward level on various development issues
  • Orientation of municipal elected councillors and officials on community participation laws

Key outputs
  • Area Sabhas and Ward Sabhas have been formed in at least two wards of all intervened municipalities
  • Area Sabhas and Ward Sabhas are conducting their meetings regularly
