FCO Evaluation of Strengthening Civil Society Conflict Transformation Capacities

The project aimed at strengthening civil society’s capacity for conflict transformation on both sides of the line of control (Jammu and Kashmir) by facilitating shared analysis, dialogue and practical engagement at regional and cross line of control (Loc) levels and to link them to other peace building efforts.

Objectives

To assess the impact, efficiency, effectiveness, sustainability, and relevance of a conflict transformation project in Jammu and Kashmir carried out by Conciliation Resources (CR) an independent UK based NGO that works on peace building, and policy dialogues on peace processes. The project funded by the British Government's Conflict pool aimed at strengthening civil society's capacity for conflict transformation on both sides of the line of control by facilitating shared analysis, dialogue and practical engagement at regional and cross line of control (Loc) levels and to link them to other peace building efforts.

Geographical Spread

Jammu and Kashmir (both sides of the line of control in India and Pakistan).

Evaluation of all the components in this project including

  • Marginalized groups,
  • Diaspora engagement,
  • Conflict transformation workshops.
The evaluation was done through extensive document surveys and interviews in Jammu and Kashmir.

Key outputs

Report of 25 pages with an executive summary, outline of the evaluation methodology and structure, and analysis of the findings of the project's relevance and validity, achievement and impacts, effectiveness and efficiency, M&E and communication, sustainability, lessons learned and recommendations for the next phase.
