| International Women’s Day Celebrations at Head Office | |
| An event was organised at PRIA HO on March 10, 2008 to mark International Women’s Day. The gathering, consisting of all staff at HO, presented skits, shared thoughts, poems and other creative ideas. This event was coordinated by PRIA's CGAMP Team. | |
| The event
began with a Power Point presentation on functions/events/meetings etc.
organised by PRIA marking International Women’s Day in the last few
years. Another power point presentation highlighted the achievements of women from different walks of life. A quiz on women, who have excelled in their respective fields, was also part of this presentation. |
|
| Colleagues shared poems highlighting dilemmas faced by women at different junctures of their life, poems which were very powerful. | |
| Sharing of findings, from PRIA’s studies undertaken in the past, highlighted women’s plight with special reference to work carried out by them, including domestic work, considered as unpaid work. The working conditions of women in hazardous sectors were also shared. | |
| A skit highlighting the plight of women at the grassroots, struggling to access information under RTI, was an eye opener for many | |
| Another skit highlighting the journey of a woman in an urban professional set up was applauded by all. It showcased the journey of the woman from her birth till her grandchildren were born, completing the cycle of life | |
| Special provisions under Income Tax Act for Women were also shared which proved to be very informative. | |
| On a lighter note, all the staff were given some titles (In the form of a line from a song from Hindi Cinema) depicting their job profile and/or personal characteristics. Also on a lighter note, suggestions offered by the computer (dictionary) on Indian names were shared. So Pradeep may become pride/paraded and Anand may become amend if one were to follow the advise of the computer! | |
| This event attempted to bring out the creative side of staff who, otherwise, do not get an opportunity to share their thoughts, creative ideas at many a platform. It also provided an opportunity to people to interact with different teams/members when they formed groups for collective presentations | |
| The event ended with a song and high tea. | |
