CGAMP Gender Sensitisation Workshop December 19, 2008
The Committee on Gender Awareness and Mainstreaming in PRIA (CGAMP) organises gender sensitisation workshops every quarter. Another one in the series was organised on December 19, 2008 to address the security issues of the staff members while working or commuting due to work.
The session started with a group song “Tu zinda hai to zindagi ki geet par yakin kar, agar kahin hai swarg to utar la zamin par” in which all participants followed the lead singers. A 20-minute film on the safety of women in Delhi prepared by Jagori was shown after that.
The participants were then divided into 4 groups to discuss the safety concerns of men and women separately and issues common to both while working or travelling due to work. They were also asked to come up with suggestions to address these problems. In order to generate awareness about the rules, a copy of the existing travel and accommodation rules was given out to members for analysis.
After the presentations, CGAMP Chairperson Namrata Jaitli consolidated the entire discussion. This opportunity was also used to listen to PIIP Intern Andrew’s experience with PRIA, as he was leaving the next day.
