Annual Report 2007-08
Annual Report 2007-08 tries to capture some major highlights of PRIA’s work during 2007-08. PRIA continued to make efforts towards maintaining the momentum for devolution in several ways by pressurising the Government for the actual and real devolution of functions, funds and functionaries in Panchayats and Municipalities. During the year, PRIA convened and facilitated several policy dialogues on issues of citizen participation and democratic governance. PRIA also undertook measures on a global scale to promote participatory research, strengthen civil society and democratise governance. Under the current framework of Governance Where People Matter (GWPM), PRIA was able to further its linkages with academia through a systematic programme of linkage building and promote PRIA Continuing Education Programmes. Through its successful bidding for the tenders of the Orissa Civil Society and Poverty Programme and the West Bengal Civil Society Support Programme, PRIA has now begun to gain experience in managing large-scale projects that combine grant-making and capacity building functions and responsibilities.
